Technical Design
I develop products and technical solutions through sheet metal design, product development and 3D CAD—from early concepts to manufacturable geometry and clear technical documentation.
FROM REQUIREMENT TO RELEASE
How a technical project takes shape.
A reliable result comes from resolving requirements, geometry, manufacturing constraints and validation in the right order. The exact route depends on the product and production method, but these are the stages I normally work through.
01
Define the requirement.
Who will use the product, what must it do and which information is already fixed? I establish the function, interfaces, dimensions, units, materials, production method and responsibilities before developing the geometry.
Typical output: Defined requirements · responsibilities · project scope
02
Develop the geometry.
I translate the requirements into clear product geometry and compare alternatives where useful. In sheet metal projects, part structure, material thickness, bend logic, connections and assembly are considered from the start.
Typical output: Concept options · 3D model · design decisions
03
Resolve for manufacture.
Fastening, welds, clearances, accessibility, interfaces and agreed tolerances are worked out with relevant manufacturing input. Critical calculations, certification and specialist engineering are confirmed by the appropriate engineer or production partner where required.
Typical output: Resolved geometry · key details · technical documentation
04
Review, test and release.
Models and documentation are reviewed against the agreed requirements. Where needed, a prototype, test fit or small batch is used before repeat production. Revisions, remaining checks and release status are recorded clearly.
Typical output: Review comments · prototype feedback · agreed release

EXPERIENCE IN PRACTICE
Technical decisions grounded in how products are made.
My technical work combines product design, more than a decade of 3D CAD experience and direct experience with sheet metal production, prototyping and manufacturing feedback. I have worked on products and assemblies ranging from enclosures, brackets and frames to technical equipment and custom interior components.
That experience helps me recognise issues that are easy to miss on screen: bend access, fastening sequence, welds, clearances, material behaviour, assembly order and the difference between a workable prototype and a repeatable product. I bring the geometry and production information together; where specialist calculations, certification or independent verification are required, these are confirmed by the appropriate qualified party before release.

WAYS OF WORKING TOGETHER
Support where the project needs it.
I can develop a product from an early brief, resolve a specific technical problem or add capacity to an existing team. The scope depends on what is already known, how the product will be made and which responsibilities remain with the client, engineer or production partner.

Sheet metal design
Folded and fabricated parts, enclosures, brackets, frames and assemblies developed around the intended material, production method and assembly sequence. This can include concept development, 3D CAD, flat-pattern-ready geometry and technical documentation.

Product development
Development of a new product or refinement of an existing concept, from functional requirements and form through prototyping and production feedback. Where testing or specialist engineering is required, this is planned with the relevant partner before release.

3D CAD and technical development
Flexible support for products, components and assemblies that need to be modelled, reconstructed, revised or prepared for manufacture. I can work independently or within an existing development process and file structure.
